The symposium will be held on Wednesday, March 18th, 2026 on Georgetown Law’s campus, at 500 1st St NW from 3:30 pm to 7:00 pm on the 9th Floor.

The event will conclude with a networking reception starting at 6:20 pm. Those who attend should

  • Nancy Connell — Biosecurity and Biosafety Consultant, Rutgers New Jersey Medical School.

Keynote Speaker (4:45-5:00pm): Dr. Rocco Casagrande

Dr. Casagrande is Managing Director for Deloitte Consulting, a science and technology subject matter expert for the Center for Homeland Defense and Security, and widely respected thought leader on defense against weapons of mass destruction and managing the safety and security risks of cutting-edge biological research.

Governing Risk: Policy and Oversight for the Biosecurity Landscape Ahead

Panelists:

  • Balaji Lakshmi Narain — Experienced general counsel, national security professional, and
    veteran, with extensive experience in emerging technology policy, including through senior
    positions in Congress and the Executive Branch.
  • Dr. Gerald Epstein — Contributing scholar at the John Hopkins Center for Health Security.
  • Dr. Gigi Gronvall— Senior Scholar at the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security and an
    Associate Professor in the Department of Environmental Health and Engineering at the Johns
    Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
