This webinar is the third of a four part series.
Victims and survivors have played a critical role in advocating for justice, connecting other victims and survivors to the justice ecosystem, and providing peer-to-peer support on the long and arduous path to justice. Usually with little support, they have mobilized into groups, networks, and coalitions, making their voices harder to ignore, coordinating on shared goals, and pooling resources and skills. Inspired by the “Nothing about us without us” principle, this session will focus on the power of survivor-led initiatives in shaping justice processes. Facilitators will share best practices for policymakers, practitioners, researchers, and survivor advocates who want to learn about victim and survivor movement-building as one component of a holistic strategy to develop and implement effective and meaningful justice mechanisms for atrocities. This session will feature pre-recorded contributions from SEMA members reflecting on the importance of victim participation in policy and program design.
